Charlesland Golf Club IrelandWoodenbridge
Located 10 miles south of Ballyknocken House, the course is set in a natural amphitheatre in a valley surrounded by wooden slopes on both sides. Two rivers, the Avonmore and the Aughrim, run throughout the course with many holes being played over river and lake waters. Pheasant and duck abound offering tranquillity at its best. Probably on of the most photographed locations in Ireland, the vale of Avoca is the ultimate setting for a game of golf.

Golf has been played at Woodenbridge since 1884, leaving it one of the oldest courses in Ireland. Up until 1994 it was played as a 9 hole course but then a major transformation to 18 holes - the creation of golf course architect Patrick Merrigan - took place. The unique beauty of the old nine has been enhanced by the new nine, making it one of the most successful integrated and beautiful courses to play on. To avoid the peak times, visit Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday mornings or Friday and Sunday mornings. Prior booking of tee times strongly advised.
